The specific cause is unknown but a significant component is hormonal alterations in both youngsters at puberty.
Additional problems can include hormonal changes 2-7 days ahead of menstruation, oil from skin products, pressure from sports helmets and squeezing or picking at blemishes to name a few.

These are what I experienced when I was becoming an adult. Chocolate, grease, soda, sugar and dirty skin were the main reasons given for getting acne. Additionally, as kids i was told it was something you would "just grow out of."
